From analysis of epidemiological and physiopathological data, aging is generally perceived as the result of cross-influence of constitutional elements, so-called “genetic” elements, elements related to lifestyle and external events. Geronto-biology focuses on specific aspects, medical and biological, resulting from aging at the level of human organisms and has developed concepts such as “harmonious” aging, “fragility”, “hypercatabolic” state which illustrate the highly heterogeneous nature of aging. This heterogeneity is illustrated, at a given age, by a very variable residual life expectancy, by the appearance or not of degenerative pathologies, including cardio-vascular, neurological, osteo-articular, diabetic, but also neoplastic pathologies where constitutional determinants and other externalities are found, in the same way as with aging.
