Overview of the Centre Antoine-Lacassagne

 

The Centre Antoine-Lacassagne (CAL) is the Regional cancer center in Nice and on the French Riviera.

As a health center with a private status, it is dedicated to public services in the oncology field. It is a member of the French National Federation of cancer centers gathering the 20 French centers into a group strategy.

Set up in 1961, the Centre Antoine-Lacassagne is located in the heart of Nice, near the CHU (Teaching Hospital) we are closely related with. The Centre Antoine-Lacassagne owns state of the art facilities, particularly the biomedical Cyclotron (protontherapy) and the CyberKnife. In addition to its in-patient department, a day hospital and weekly care facilities, more than 42.000 outpatient consultations are carried out per year. More than 700 people are employed, including nearly 100 physicians, biologists and researchers.

The CAL is composed of a two-person team, e.g. a physician/Managing Director and a General Secretary. Its Board council is chaired  by the Alpes-Maritimes Préfet.

 

The assignments : Healthcare, Teaching and Research

The CAL project is based on two priorities : the highest quality and technicity for healthcare with a total and permanent respect of the patient.

 

It is in charge of fundamental tasks in oncology.

  • Cancer screening and prevention
  • Patient management throughout the healthcare trail
  • Fundamental translational and clinical research
  • Teaching, vocational training aiming at improving the healthcare professional's knowledge

 

Quality program

The CAL has decided to get strongly committed in patient management. It is deeply involved in healthcare quality and risk management with a maximal safety. Its requirements meet the present standards.
The quality unit collaborates with a few entities i.e. the CLIN (Comité de Lutte Contre les Infections Nosocomiales), Committee against nosocomial infections, the CLUD (Comité de Lutte Contre la Douleur), Committee against pain, the CRUQPC (Comité de Relation avec les Usagers et de Qualité de la Prise en Charge), Board for the patients' complaints and the management quality.
